Australian Open 2010: Day 14 Finals

At long last after 13 days of some pretty amazing tennis, the Australian Open 2010 is coming to a close with the mixed doubles final followed by the men's singles final. The finals of the Australian Open usually will feature at least 1 surprise finalist Ala Gonzalez, Tsonga, Baghdatis. However, it was not the case this year. The finals this year featured Roger Federer the 1st seed against Andy Murray the 5th seed.

There was the mixed doubles final before the men's final. The men's final was scheduled to start at 7.30 with a little bit of pre-final entertainment before hand. Seeing as how I had no interest whatsoever in the mixed doubles final, I arrived just in time for the pre-final entertainment.

The pre-final entertainment featured the cast of the Jersey Boys singing a medley of songs. It was quite nice actually. I did however have one little problem. It was too freakin short. The "entertainment" lasted for barely 5 minutes.

The "entertainment" was followed by the national anthem of Australia, sung by the cast of Jersey Boys.

After the entertainment was done with, the throphy was brought out for display before the players made their enterance.

Murray had a chance to end Britain's long wait for a Grand Slam. Alas, the Swiss Maestro was too good for the Brit. Federer beat Murray in the first 2 sets 6-3, 6-4. Despite the score line of the first 2 sets, the games themselves were quite closely contested. Well some of them anyways. Most of the crowd (myself included) was hoping that Murray would win the 3rd set, so that they would get their money's worth =p It was all not meant to be as Murray lost the 3rd set 6-7. With the tie break going to an amazing 13-11 in favor of Federer. Federer's composure and experience in Grand Slam finals helped him claim his 16th Grand Slam title.

Murray's speech was a little bit emotional as you could see he was struggling to hold back his tears. He eventually ended his speech prematurely and succummed to his tears.

After winning his 16th Grand Slam title, there is little doubt that Roger Federer by general consent is considered to be the greatest tennis player of all time. The scary thing is if he able to remain injury free for the rest of his career, it wouldnt be impossible for him to win 20+ Grand Slam titles. After tonight, I am definitely going to frame up the cap that he signed.

Australian Open 2010: Day 12 Semi Finals

Day 12 was the day 2 of the semi's. Today it would be either Tsonga or Federer facing Murray (who won the previous day) in the Final on Sunday. There was actually the female doubles final and a mixed double semi before the Roger Federer vs Tsonga match but I didnt really feel like watching either one of those.So, I skipped the first 2 matches and arrived just before the Federer Tsonga match started.

This promised to be a good match up, seeing as Tsonga (yellow) has been playing quite well in the tournament and had just 2 tough back to back 5 set victories in which he displayed how tough he is. Federer............ well Federer is Federer. Lets just leave it at that.

Many would have predicted that this match would end in Federer's victory and it did. However, few if any would have predicted the manner in which he achieved that victory. He simply destroyed Tsonga. I mean absolutely and completely obliterated him. It seemed like Federer could do no wrong and Tsonga could do no right. He was hitting all sorts of winners and when Tsonga tried to make a comeback, he just put him back down again. Final score: Federer victory 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.

Federer dominated Tsonga to such a degree that the match lasted only for 1 hour and 28 minutes and the last set took barely over 30 minutes.

Since the match ended rather quickly, Jim Courier made the interview a bit longer then normal. I have to say that he is one of the more entertaining interviewers that I have seen.

Australian Open 2010: Day 10 Quarter Finals

When the schedule was released for Day 10, I was elated yet still a little sad. Why sad? Because I bought the day session ticket and the Tsonga vs Djokovic match was during the night session. However, the last match of the day session more than made up for that match. Well to me it did anyway. First match of the day featured Na Li vs Venus Williams. Followed by Venus Williams vs Victoria Azarenka. And the last match.......................... Roger Federer vs Nikolay Davydenko. Finally!!!!!! I get to see The King in action. I was so excited because he was the player I wanted to watch the most and also the last time I attended the Australian Open I didnt get to see him play. Thats not all, it gets awesomer (well for me anyways).

Li vs V.Williams (yellow'ish) was the first match off the bat. This would be my first time watching either one of the Williams sisters play.

Li lost the first set 2-6 and everyone thought it was going to be a simple straight sets victory for Venus. However that wasnt the case. Li fought back to win the 2nd set 7-6 and then went on to win the 3rd set 7-5. Final score: Li 3 sets victory, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5.

2nd match of the day session featured the younger of the 2 Williams sisters, S.Williams (orange) vs Azarenka.

Serena is a scary player. She plays like a friggin man. However, she seemed to be off her game when she lost the first set 4-6 and was down 0-4 in the 2nd set. At that point everyone was expecting a back to back exit from the tournament by the Williams sisters. The number 1 seed that Serena received was not just for show as she fought back to claim the set 7-6 and just simply destroyed Azanrenka in the 3rd set. Final score: S.Williams victory, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2.

And last but not least, Roger "The King" Federe (blue) vs Davydenko.

I was so happy that I was finally able to watch Federer play live. Watching some play live is just so different compared to watching them play on television. He looks like he's gliding when he moves around the court and the sheer number of shots he has at his disposal is just unbelievable. However, despite his inherent awesomeness, he dropped the first set 2-6. It was a combination of him making uncharacteristic errors and Davydenko playing out of his skin. Federer did eventually play like himself, winning the next 3 sets to claim a 4 set victory over the Russian. There was even a bagel set in 3rd. Final score: Federer victory: 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5.

The awesomenest did not end when the match did. It ended when I managed to get Federer's autograph. The last autograph I would get and it was the best one of all. I plan to frame this up someday.

Australian Open 2010: Day 9 Quarter Finals

The schedule matches for today would be the beginning of the men's & women's quarter finals. However, instead of being in the Hisense Arena, the matches would be held in the Rod Laver Arena (center court) only. There would be 2 sessions for each day, the day session & the twilight session. For today I got the day session and when the schedule for today was release I was quite dissapointed because Nadal would be playing during the twilight session and not the day. Anyways, the schedule for the day period also was not to bad. To kick things off a match between Justin Henin & Nadia Petrova, followed by Jie Zheng vs Maria Kirilenko and to end the day session Marin Cilic vs Andy Roddick.

The first match was Henin (blue) vs Petrova. I was looking forward to this match because I was able to see Henin play again.

Even though the match ended in a straight sets victory for Henin, it was still quite a tough match for her. The evidence, final score of 7-6, 7-5 to Henin. I still maintain that she has the best backhand among both men and women.

The 2nd match of the day session was between Zheng (blue) & Kirilenko.

I expected this to be a pretty close match because Kirilenko has been playing quite well so far in the tournament. However, Zheng completely dominated her. Everything that Kirilenko threw at her, she threw right back and then some. The match ended in a 6-1, 6-3 victory for Zheng.

The last match of the day session was Roddick (cap) vs Cilic. I was really excited about this one because I love watching Roddick play and Cilic knocked out 4th seed Del Potro in the previous round.

The match was a 5 set thriller. After a tough first set which Cilic won 7-6, Roddick got dominated 3-6 in the 2nd set. Many were expecting a straight sets victory for Cilic but Roddick fought back to claim the next 2 sets. However, an injury he sustained in his previous match against Fernando Gonzalez proved too much of a handicap and he lost the 5th set 3-6. Final score: 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3 victory for Cilic.

Australian Open 2010: Day 8 Round 4

Its finally down to the final 16 in Round 4 of the Australian Open. Those who win today progress to the quarter finals. There was 4 matches schedule for Hisense today. First of which is a mixed doubles featuring Flavia Pennetta & Marcelo Melo vs Jarmila Groth & Samuel Groth. That match is followed by women's singles featuring Na Li vs Caroline Wozniacki. The final 2 matches in Hisense was much more interesting than the first 2 matches. The first of the final 2 was a men's singles featuring Novak Djokovic vs Lukasz Kubot and then Jo-Wilfred Tsonga vs Nicolas Almagro.

Seeing as how I had no interest in the first 2 matches I decided to skip those and arrived at Hisense before the start of the Djokovic (white) vs Kubot match.

The match turned out to be a simple straight sets victory for the Serb despite the last set ending 7-5. Final Score: 6-1, 6-2. 7-5.

The final match of the day featuring Tsonga (yellow) vs Almagro was the most interesting match of the day.

The crowd for this match was once again amazing. Plenty of chanting and cheering going on. Though sadly for Almagro, most of it was in support of Tsonga. Tsonga's player box was really vocal in their support for him. This match turned out to be Tsonga's first ever 5 set match and the quality of tennis displayed by both players was amazing. Good thing for Tsonga that his first ever 5 set match ended in a victory with the final score of 6-3, 6-4, 4-6, 6-7, 9-7.

Australian Open 2010: Day 6 Round 3

Day 6 was the same as Day 5 in the regards that the Hisense schedule was split into 2 separate sessions. However, this time I went for the twilight session instead of the day session. First of 2 matches in the twilight session was Jo-Wilfred Tsonga vs Tommy Haas and the 2nd match was a legends doubles match with Henri Leconte & Pat Rafter vs Scott Draper & Richard Fromberg.

First match was Tsong (yellow) vs Haas.

This was another superbly exciting match to watch. Both players made incredible shots and the crowd was once again magnificent. Also, its really fun to watch Tsonga play because he has a very attacking style of play which is easy on the eyes and he also knows how to stir up the crowd. Tsonga & Haas split the first 2 sets 6-4, 6-3 respectively before Tsonga wiped the floor with Haas in the 3rd set 6-1. Haas did put up more of a fight in the next set but still lose the set 5-7. Final score: Tsonga victory 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. Sadly, I didnt manage to get his autograph =(

Also, I wasnt really interested in the legends doubles match. So, instead of making myself watch a match I wasnt interested in, I went back home early.

Australian Open 2010: Day 5 Round 3

The schedule for Hisense today was a bit different than usual. It was split into 2 sessions, the day session & the twilight session. The ticket that I got was for the day session. The schedule for the day session was Alona Bodarenko vs Jelena Jankovic, Justine Henin vs Alisa Kleybanova, and for the last match of the day session Andy Murray vs Florent Serra.

I arrived in Melbourne Park quite early. So I decided to walk around a little bit to kill sometime. I saw that the line at the Face Painting tent was quite short and thought to myself "Why the heck not?". So I got my face painted in the colors of the Belgium flag for Henin's match. I took a pic of my self in the toilet but some how the pic didnt turn out to well. So if you wanna see how I looked like with face paint, check out my msn dp.

First match up was Bodarenko the 31st seed vs Jankovic (Blue) the 8th seed. Because I had my face painted I almost missed the start of the match but luckily I didnt.

The match ended in a 6-2, 6-3 victory for Bodarenko. I was quite surprised by this one because Jankovic was playing quite poorly, not making the shots she normally makes and also making a lot of simple errors.

2nd match was Henin (blue) vs Kleybanova. I got my face painted for this match. So you could defnitely tell that I was looking forward to this match.

Henin won the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Last match for the day session featured Murray (blue, again) vs Serra. This was my first time seeing Murray play live, I was quite excited to see how he actually plays.

Despite a tough first set which Murray won 7-5, it was a simple victory in straights sets with a final score of 7-5, 6-1, 6-4.

I managed to get Bodarenko's autograph and Henin's but unfortunately not Murray's but oh well something better then nothing. Better not be too greedy.

Australian Open 2010: Day 3 Round 2

Today's line up in the Hisense Arena features Caroline Wozniacki vs Aleksandra Wozniak, Andy Roddick vs Thomaz Bellucci, Dinara Safina vs Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, and lastly Juan Martin Del Potro vs James Blake. This would be my 3rd time overall watching Roddick (2nd this tourney), 2nd time watching James Blake (once this tourney and the previous time I went), Safina and Del Potro. Little did I know that today would be one of the most awesomest tournament days I would experience but more on that later.

First match of the bat was between the 4th seed Wozniacki vs Wozniak (orange'ish).

Not much to say about this one. It ended in a straight forward 6-4, 6-2 victory for Wozniacki

Next up was American Roddick vs Brazilian Bellucci. Though its my 2nd time seeing Roddick this tournament, I dont really mind because I enjoy watching him play.

Again not much to say. Ended in a simple straight sets victory of 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 for the American.

The 3rd match in Hisense today was between Safina and Zahlavova (no way am I spelling her full name again).

As per the earlier matches in the day, this match ended in a simple straight forward 6-3, 6-4 victory for the seeded player (Safina). So far the day wasnt very awesome. Yet......... it was all about to change.

The last match featured Del Potro vs Blake. Which would turn out to be the most exiciting tennis match I've ever seen (live anyways).

This matched turned out to be an epic which lasted for 4 hours and 17 minutes. Del Potro triumphed over Blake in 5 sets, 6-4, 6-7, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. The last set was by far the most exciting of them all. There were many times that Blake needed only 1 more game to win the whole match but Del Potro was persistent and fought back and eventually gained victory. The crowd was also simply amazing. Cheering at the top of their (well mine to) voices whenever a shot was made or when an amazing play was made. All in all it was the most awesomest match I have ever watched. I was glad to have been able to witness it live. I hope that the finals this year is just as amazing if not even more so =)

Oh, and the cherry to top off the sundae of awesomeness that was today was that I managed to get Safina's and Del Potro's autograph. I didnt managed to get Roddick's but hey it was still a pretty good haul.

Australian Open 2010: Day 1 Round 1

Woooot!! Finally after months of waiting the Australian Open has officially started. I was thinking of going earlier to walk around Melbourne Park to see what they have set up for the tourney but decided against it. It had been raining earlier in the morning and the weather forecast for the rest of the day wasnt to good either. So instead of getting caught in the rain I decided to reach Hisense just before the match started. I'll arrive earlier on Wed to walk about, weather permitting of course.

The line up for the day was Dinara Safina vs Magdalena Rybarikova, Andy Roddick vs Thiemo de Bakker, Juan Martin Del Potro vs Michael Russel and the last match Justine Henin vs Fristen Flipkens. I learned later that there was a 5th match between Elena Dementieva vs Vera Dushevina (6-2, 6-1) got added to the schedule. Probably because of the delay in the outside courts earlier in the delay due to the rain.

The roof was already closed by the time I got there. Thank god, if not there would be even more delays.

1st match was Safina (blue) vs Rybarikova (white'ish). I have to say that Safina looks very intimidating because of the intense look she has on her face.

The match ended 6-4, 6-4. It was quite weird that Safina switched between shouting come on in what I think was Russian and then to English.

After the Safina match they opened up the roof because it had stopped raining. Which turned out to be a big mistake because it rained in the middle of the next match and they were so slow in closing the roof that there was a long delay. What with drying up the court and all.

Next up was Roddick vs de Bakker. When the schedule was announced I was quite happy that I was able to see Roddick play again.

Roddick won 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. His serve was still as fast as ever but oddly enough he didnt get a lot of aces. In fact he was out ace'd by de Bakker and didnt even reach double digits in aces I think. However, he did attack the net a lot more than he used to.

3rd match in Hisense was Juan Martin Del Potro vs Michael Russell. I find that Del Potro has this permenant look of intensity because of his facial features.

This was literally a David vs Goliath match because of the height difference between Del Potro (6'6) and Russell (5'8). The match ended in a 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory in favor of Goliath.

The last (well what I though was last) match of the day was between Henin vs Flipkens. I was quite interested to see how Henin would play after such a long blank period.

She didnt dissapoint in a 6-4, 6-3 victory. I think that her backhand is so freaking awesome that I have to say it was the best backhand I saw that day (I mean relatively la).

Oh, I forgot to mention that the quality of the photos are a bit crappy because the roof was closed for day (except of the begining part of the Roddick match, I took most of the pictures then, thank god) and the lighting wasnt the best. I hope the rest of the days when I go that it doest rain. For the sake of better quality pictures and a tan =)

Australian Open 2010

Its finally here!!!!! The Australian Open is one of the main reason(s) why I chose to stayed back in Melbourne for summer and not go back to KL. The other reason(s)? Well that's a story for another time. Anyways, I've been waiting for over 4 months from the moment I bought the tickets for the tournament to begin. The weather for the next several days seem to be pretty decent. Cooling even. I hope the weather gods are kind for the rest of the tournament.

The schedule of play for the Hisense Arena tomorrow is wonderful. I cant wait to see Safina, Roddick, Del Potro and Henin in action. I hope that I'm just as lucky if not even more so with the remainding schedules.

I'll try to be as quick as I can with uploading the pictures. However, seeing as I'm going for a lot more matches that I did last time, there might be a lag(hopefully not much) with some of the posts. Oh totally random but I hope I get some autographs this year =)

Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown Tour 14 December 2009

By far this was the craziest concert I have ever been to. Granted its only the 2nd time I've been in the pit but still.... man oh man was it crazy. There were plenty of people being pulled out of the crowd. One girl was even pulled out before Green Day got on stage. I think she passed out, I'm not very sure.

Anyways, I arrived about nearly 4 hours before the concerted started. I though I was going to be one of the earliest ones to arrive but apparently now. There was already quite a crowd forming when I got there. Some people were even crazy enough to camp overnight. Hats off to the crazy fans.

The pics I got from this concert arent the greatest because I was in the pit. Even though was only 1 person between me and the front of the barricade. It was a madhouse in there. You had to keep pushing people away just to keep your position.

Enough of that stuff, I'll let the pics do most of the talking.

The opening act was Jet and I thought they were pretty dam good.

My favourite part of the Jet's set list was their final song, Cold Hard B*tch

During the intermission between the Jet & Green Day there was this guy (I think a guy) who came out in a pink bunny suit to entertain the crowd. The bunny even downed 2 bottles of beer.

They opened with a pre-recorded version of Song of The Century and then the live version of 21st Century Breakdown. I posted a video of their opening song on FB and not here because the file size just couldnt fit here.

One thing I absolutely loved about this concert was there was a ton of audience participation. Billy picked quite a few people to go up on stage at one point or another. He even asked a few of them to stage dive. At one point they even shot water at us and laucnhed toilet rolls into the crowd so that we could "dry" ourselves. Oh I almost forgot, Billy also mooned the crowd.

One of my favourite moments of the concert was when they played 21 Guns, which was towards the end of the concert. However, my absolute favourite moment was of course without a doubt when they Billy played Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) to close the show. I've been listening to that song for years and not only that. It is one of my favourite all time songs and to actually get to see/hear it live was just a very special moment for me.

At the end of the day only one word can describe their concert: Awesome

2010 Has Arrived

Woo hoo!! Its 2010 baby!! 2009 has been great. Went to a good deal of concerts, made some new friends, went to GC, went to Grampians, etc. But it was not without its downs. One of if not the biggest down is the fact that I wont be seeing some people anymore because they have graduated and gone back home....... Luckily there will still be quite a few people left this year so I guess its not all bad.

Anyways just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year!!!!! Oh also the Green Day post will be up shortly.

Pre-Christmas Update

Last week was a bitter sweet week. It was wonderful seeing my uni friends graduate but at the same time it was sad because I wont be seeing any of them anymore. Well not anymore la but not for a long time at least. It has been a great 3 years getting to know people like Adeline, Tommy, Eugene, and William among others.

Sad stuff aside it was a pretty boring week. Except for Sunday when Myself, Ying, Soe, Clarine, Nelsie, and Jin went to Yarra Valley to visit some of the wineries. We had lunch at this place called Ferguson Winery. I have to say that the lunch was actually pretty good and wasnt too expensive. Mains went up to $28, which is fairly reasonable. Then we went to the Moet Chandon winery. We went for this mini-tour which explained how wine is made and processed and also where it its stored for aging. After we were done at the Moet Chandon winery, it was too late to visit the other wineries so we headed to Mt. Danedong to chill and watch the sun set.

I cant remember exactly when but sometime last week someone suggested that we do a Christmas Eve & Christmas dinner and everyone thought it was a good idea because we had nothing better to do for the holiday season. So, I'm quite looking forward to that.

Oh I also went to the Green Day concert on the 14th. Will blog about that eventually.

Grampians' '09 (for real)

This was our first road trip as a big group. Probably our last too. Seeing as how a lot of us wont be here next year. Oh also this post contains quite a bit of pictures. There were 16 of us for this trip Myself, Jeff, Will, Ying, Vocan, Vonne, Eugene, Abishek, Tommy, Malvin, Asentua, Soe, Clarine, Jin, Nelsie and Adeline. We split into 4 cars. Eugene, Will, Soe and Asentua were the 4 drivers.

We met up at a petrol station near the city before heading out towards Grampians.

After unpacking and resting for a bit we headed towards the town for lunch.

Our first first stop after lunch was MacKenzie Falls. We headed to the top first before making our way to the bottom.

The hike to the top was relatively short and didnt take us to long to get there.

The trek to the bottom was quite a bit longer and not very hard initially because it was mostly downhill. Coming back up however, was an entirely different story altogether.

I went ahead of everyone and took this pic on the way back up from the bottom. You have to zoom in the pic to see their faces but I think its still pretty cool.

After resting for a while we drove to another place to somewhere called The Pinnacle to hike. This one was on a while other level compared to MacKenzie Falls. It took us about an hour and a half to get to the top of The Pinnacle but the view along the way to the top and the view at the top was simply magnificent and so worth the sore leg muscles.

The top of The Pinnacle!!!

The view the at the top was simply amazing. We kinda had this sense of accomplishment once we got to the top. Our reward for going through that hell of a hike was the magnificent view the top of The Pinnacle had to offer.

I couldnt pose for a picture at the end of the railings properly because it was actually quite windy and my courage was dropping by the second >.<

After resting for a while at the top we headed back to our cottages to get the bbq dinner ready. Dont know why we dont have pics of the bbq. I guess everyone was to busy eating =p

The next day Jin, Nelsie, Soe and Clarine left earlier than the rest of us because Jin had a driving test and Soe had work. We took a small detour on our way back to a town called Cavendish. The purpose was for Australia's biggest hamburger.
Doesnt look like much right? Wait till you hear the stats. It weighs 4kgs. The patty alone is a kilo and a half. It contains 20 pieces of bacon, 8 eggs, 9 slices of cheese, a head and a half of lettuce, 3 onions, 6 tomatoes and its all in the middle of 2 28cm buns. Still think its unbelievable? If your thinking that the picture looks fake and that the burger was photoshopped in, you are wrong. There was no photoshop used and the burger was just that huge.

All in all the trip was highly enjoyable (except for the long drive part and some windy roads). Too bad it was our first and probably only road trip as a big group. Oh well, at least we had a super memorable trip.

Nickelback: Dark Horse Tour 16 November 2009

No disrespect to the other concerts I have been to but the Nickelback concert is one of the best if not the best concert I have ever been to. I know Nickelback has many critics but screw them. To each his own. This was a perfect example of what a rock concert should be. Fireworks, pyrotechnics and well more fireworks and pyrotechnics. The opening act was Sick Puppies. While not being really my type of music, I did enjoy it because the bassist was pretty hot =p

They opened with Something In Your Mouth, which I took a vid of and posted in on FB. Also, I took and posted vids on FB for Gotta Be Somebody and If Today Was Your Last Day. The quality of the vids isnt the best but its better than nothing. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking and only write captions for a few of them. Oh and they closed with Animals.

One of my favourite moments of the concert was when they played If Everyone Cared with the part of the video clip and some additional pictures on the big screen.

Daniel did this crazy ass drum solo for about nearly 10 minutes. The last time I saw a drum solo that crazy was on the Phil Collins Farewell Tour Dvd.

It was definitely worth the money to go for this concert. Nothing would have kept me from going to this concert. Oh, and thank you Vocan for letting me use your cc =) Wouldnt have been able to get such awesome seats if I didnt. Thank you!

An Evening With Il Divo: 12th October 2009

Not going to type much on this one again. I felt quite out of place in this concert. Mostly because I had the feeling I was in a retirement home >< What with me being one of the youngest member of the audience. Il Divo's music is really for the older crowd but I still enjoy it nonetheless. Neways, enough typing. I'll let the pics do the talking.

All in all it was another awesome concert. So no regrets, even though I went alone AGAIN......

Freedom has never tasted so sweet. Exams are finally done with. 3 months of not having to pick up another book/lecture notes/past exam paper!!! Now comes the doing nothingness of summer. I plan to get a tan again. Hope it lasts this time. Oh also, the Il Divo post will be up soon. Just have to upload the pics first.

For the umpteen time, sorry for not blogging recently. Been quite swamped this semester. I've got 2 papers on the 5th, 1 on the 10th and the last one on the 13th. Corp Law AND Advanced is on the 5th. Man, what a way to start exams. Biz Asia on the 10th then followed by Biz Econs on the 13th.

Well it hasnt been and wont be all doom and gloom. I went for the Il Divo concert on the 12th. That was pretty awesome (will blog bout it after exams). Then on Nov 16th the Nicklebaack concert!!!!!!!!!! Man I am so pumped for that one. Being able to watch one of my favourite bands live is a dream come true. Also Chee Kin is coming from Adelaide from the 20th-24th of Nov. It'll be nice seeing him again and having a proper chance to catch up. Unlike the GC trip where we only bumped into each other.

P!NK: Funhouse Tour 13 August 2009

Not going to type much on this one. Going to let the pics do most of the talking. As you can see from the title, I went for Pink's concert on the 13th. It was very very awesome partly due to the seats I got. Which were very very very nice. Best seat I ever had for a concert. Which is not much considering I have only been to 2 prior to this one.

The opening act was Evermore, which is not really my type of music. However, some of their songs were quite enjoyable. Pink opened with Highway To Hell & Bad Influence. I got the video of that along with Family Portrait and Glitter In The Air. They are posted on my facebook account. The files were too big to upload on blogger. My favorite part of the concert was when she was singing Sober and doing the high wire act. Its amazing how she can do that and still sing so well. She also sang Bohemian Rhapsody. Which was extremely random but still nice. Pink's version was good but the original is still the best. Well enough typing. Time for the pics.

Oh I almost forgot. I have to thank the lady who was sitting behind me for taking that picture of me. We were chatting a bit before the concert started. She's from some place in Victoria which starts with M. I cant really remember. But like me she was there alone because none of our friends wanted to come along (sorry Yvonne, I found out too late from you) and she wasn't willing to miss the concert. So there. Proof that I'm not the only who goes to concerts alone.

Gold Coast, Winter '09

As usual, sorry for the delay in posting. Been procrastinating. When you see how many pics I've uploaded you'll understand why. Oh btw, there's going to be a lot of pics and I mean AH LOT. The amount of pics in this post trumps the England trip post. Aside from my self, Ying, Vocan, Yvonne, Tommy and Abhishek also went for the trip. We met Ying at the airport in GC because she was flying in from Sydney.

The 5 of us chilled at the airport while waiting for Ying. While we were waiting we looked at some of the ticket they had for the bus services and the worlds. After we met up with Ying, we bought the bus tickets and world tickets and headed towards the bus area to catch a ride to our apartment.

In true trip going fashion we had to cam whore while we were in the bus.

Sorry there was no pic of you Tommy. I dont seem to have any of you on the bus.

The place that we were suppose to stay was some other apartment but they stuffed up the bookings. So they gave us a room at this apartment called Q1 instead. It's the world tallest residential tower at 70+ floors. They even have an observation deck at the very top. You have to take a special lift to go to the deck. It takes about 43 seconds for the lift to reach the top floor from the ground!!! Man that was a fast lift. It really makes your ear pop because of the pressure.

As you can see from the pictures of the apartment, it is huge!!! By comparison my Melbourne apartment looks tiny. Sigh..... how I wish I lived in an apartment like this.

After unpacking our stuff we decided to walk around a bit. The style of shops in Surfer's Paradise is quite different from Melbourne city. So it was nice to have a little bit of scenery change. Also the weather during winter in GC is just awesome. So sunny and so warm. We found a Hard Rock Cafe nearby our place and decided to go there for dinner. Its a pity the one in Melbourne closed down.

The next day we went to Movie World. I was so excited because it has been ages since I went to a proper theme park. The one in Genting doesn't really count because it sux. It took the shuttle bus about half an hour plus to get there. Which isnt too bad.

Near the entrance was 2 of the Batman rides. Well 1 ride and 1 more like a motion master thingy. The motion master thingy was okay but it gave me a bit of headache because of the jerky movements. The Batwing Spaceshot however was awesome. It was an awesomer version of the panzy Solero Shot in Genting. It was me and Yvonne who sat on this one. I cant remember if Abishek did or not but the others were too chicken to sit the ride =p

After the ride, the 3 of us walked about abit more before we met up with the others and decided to go for the 4D Shrek show. However there was some time until the show, so we decided to walk around a bit first.

I tried to take some pics while I was insides but the lighting was quite bad so the pics didnt turn out so good. After the show we decided to explore the rest of the theme park.

Along the way we bumped into some of the Warner Bro's characters and decided to take some pictures with them =)

The guy who was in the Batman costume was quite scary. Like he was frowning the whole time and seem a little...... well...... Batman type serious.

We headed towards the Western section of the park to sit on a log type ride that me, Yvonne and Abishek sat on after the Batman ride and before we met up with the others for the Shrek show.

As you can see it was the type of ride which makes people wet.

I wasnt in this picture because I was sitting alone in the front row The rest were too scared of getting wet so they sat behind me =p After the log ride we went for lunch.

This one was taken outside the Scooby Doo ride. Its a pity they had some problems with the ride and had to shut it down for most of the day. I really wanted to sit on that one.

We also went for this new show which was about stunt driving. It was quite cool seeing the cars drift around and well.... stunt drive. Further below you can see a short clip of the show which I took on my digi cam.

After the show, all of us minus Ying went to que up for the Lethal Weapon ride. This is one of the must sit rides of the entire park.
I couldnt get a proper shot of the entire coaster track but it was a superbly awesome ride. You would sit on a seat with your legs suspended in mid air and the ride would just take off at an increidble speed and do all sorts of loops and turns. The G -Force of this ride was the strongest one I had experienced in the entire trip. So much so that my chest hurt for a while after getting of the ride.

Next up was the much anticipated (for me anyways) Superman Escape ride.
As you can see from the track pictures it was quite a cool ride. While I felt it was faster then the Lethal Weapon ride, the G-Force didnt feel quite as strong. Regardless it was still an awesome must sit ride.

Dinner that night was at a steak house called Moo Moo. I kid you not. Just look at the pics. The restaurant is really called Moo Moo.
See, told ya it was called Moo Moo.

The steak I had was by far the best steak I ever had and I have had AH lot of steaks before. Moo Moo's even beats Rockpool by a mile. Not that Rockpool is bad. Far from it. Rockpool is excellent. Its just that Moo Moo's is so much better and if any of you are in Gold Coast some time in the future, try Moo Moo's. You wont regret it I promise you.

Oh I forgot to mention. Since Abishek was sleeping on the couch, no one else was using the sofa beds. So I combined both of them to make a nice big bed all for my self =)

The following day, we went to Sea World. Vocan wanted to go to Sea World before she betrayed us and leaves for Sydney the next day because she din get to go to Sea World the last time she came to GC.

We walked around a lil bit before heading to the first show of the day. The sea lion detectives show. Which I must say I found quite entertaining.

Next up was the sting ray reef. I found that section to be one of my favs in Sea World.
Not sure who's hand is that. Also, the front part of this sting ray really looks like the front part of a cuttle fish.

The spotted buggers were the only ones who were interested in the food that I was trying to feed them.

Told you the spotted ones were the only rays to eat the food I gave. Dont know why the bigger ones din eat. Also, I'm not sure who the other hand belongs to.

Then it was time for the DOLPHIN SHOW!!!!!

The dolphin show was my favorite part of Sea World. It was just plain awesome seeing the dolphins doing all those jumps and flips and stuff.

After the dolphin show we went for lunch and then walked around a little before heading to the polar bear section of the park.
It was quite hard to get a good picture of the bear because it kept walking around and sitting down in the harder to spot areas.

When we got bored of watching the bear doing..... well nothing really, we headed to the Shark Bay. It wasnt just sharks over there. There were various other aquatic creatures as well.
I never knew sea cucumbers looked this disgusting..........

That was the area above the bay and underneath it was an underground aquarium which is quite cool.
As you can see from the pictures they had all sorts of sea creatures down there. Sharks, smaller variety of fishes, sting rays, and some weird sotong headed thingy with a shark body which I'm still not sure what it is.

This pic is quite cool. It gives you a very Jaws like feel with the dorsal fin sticking out of the water like that.

Since we had quite a lot of time to kill until the ski show which was towards the end of the day, we decided to watch the penguin feeding session. The penguins arent the white and black ones I expected to see but they were still pretty cute.
It was quite funny seeing the sea gulls trying to steal the fish from the penguins. Those guys are pretty sneaky.

When the show ended, there was still quite a lot of time to kill before the ski show. I went on a walk around Sea World again just for fun. Then I saw this trainer lady playing/training with what I think are young dolphins, I'm not too sure.

When it was time for the ski show to start we all met up at the place where it was held. The show had a 50's 60's theme to it. Some of the jumps that the skiers did were pretty cool.

The ending was pretty neat with the 5 people pyramid thing, I loved how the just glided on the water when they come back to land.

With that our day at Sea World ended and we headed back to the apartment. Since Traitor Law was leaving the next morning for Sydney, we ate dinner at home for the night. Dinner was prepared by Chef Shiek.

The next day we decided to take it chillingly and chilled around Surfer's Paradise instead of going to Dream World. Seeing as how it was Surfer's Paradise, I would not be able to forgive myself if I didnt go to the beach to chill. The sand at Surfer's is very soft and fine and quite void of sea shells of any sort. Which was a little disappointing because I wanted to collect some.

After chilling for some time I decided to go for lunch before heading back. While on the way back to the apartment from lunch I bumped into Chee Kin & Mable who were there on holiday with their Adelaide friends. It was good seeing my curi tulang kaki from work again =p When I got back to the apartment the other were preparing to go out, so I decided to watch some TV before going out with them again. Myself, Abishek and Yvonne went to the beach while Tommy & Ying went to see some of the shops.

Once again I bumped into Chee Kin. This time on the beach.

It was quite fun writing random stuff into the sand and signing my name with my hand pring ala Hollywood Chinese Theater style.

But this was by far the coolest thing I saw on the beach that day. I think it was a bunch of Korean tourists who did this. 2 guys & a girl if not mistaken. Must have taken them quite some time to do this. So hats off to Leo, Kim & Min Ju.

We also went to the night market. It was sort of like a pasar malam along Surfer's Paradise. It wasnt very big but it was quite nice. There was mostly arts and craft, souvenirs, that kinda thing. Oh also, I met this random shopkeeper guy who was also an LFC fan. That was pretty cool.

Our last major stop for the GC trip was Dream World. It was also the one I liked the least of the 3 worlds that we went. Its not to say that it wasnt nice. I just prefer the other 2 better. Then again everyone has their own tastes.

We walked around a bit before Ying & Tommy split up from me, Yvonne & Abishek. The first ride that the 3 of went for was the Tower of Terror. Followed up by the Giant Drop.
The Tower of Terror and the Giant Drop was unusual in the sense that it was sort of 2 rides in 1. As the name Giant Drop sugggests, the ride is basically one giant drop. You can see where we drop from the pic above. We sit on these seats and our legs are suspended in mid air and the seats go all the way up to the top of the tower before dropping us. The reason I said that the ToT and GD was like 2 rides in 1 is because right on that same tower (on a different side obviously) is the tracks to the Tower of Terror.

Later on we met up with the other 2 for lunch and walk about the world. Taking pics with the funny stuff they had along the way.
We then on this ride. Which was a pretty mild one. It was a round 6 seater thingy which people would hold onto the bars placed in the center of the ride. Then it would just bump along the way with rapid like conditions while obviously some of us getting wet. Ironically Ying who was the one who wanted to get wet the least, got most wet =p

Myself, Yvonne & Abishek went for The Claw. Which was the 2nd most crazy ride in Dream World. Just check out the video below. You'll know what I mean.

After The Claw, we went for The Wave which was right opposite The Claw. Which btw is the craziest ride in Dream World.As you can see from the pics, its a ride that really turns you in all sorts of directions. Of all the rides that I have sat so far on that trip, this was the one that actually made me dizzy for a few minutes.

The 3 of us decided to join the other 2 after 2 back to back crazy rides. So, we went for the Tiger show. Which was pretty impresive.

When the show ended we went for the Australian Wildlife Experience. It consists of 4 sections, The rainforest part, the koala country partm the wetland part and the outback part.

I decided to walk around by myself for a bit after the Wildlife Experience. I decided to walk past the tiger place again. Luckly I did. I manage to take some pics of the younger tigers playing with this yellow barrel thingy.
After taking the pics of the young tigers I met up with the others and seeing as how we saw all the interesting stuff already, we decided to head back. Dinner that night was at this spanish restaurant called La Paella. I dont know why I dont have any pics of the restaurant or the food we ate. Oh well. Anyways, it was the first time I had actual spanish food and I must say I quite enjoy it. Its definitely something different to what I usually have. Quite delicious indeed.

We checked out the next morning because our flight was in the afternoon. It was a little sad to say goodbye to such an awesome apartment. Farewell 2907, you were and awesome apartment.
We then had breakfast before walking about Surfer's a little more. When the time came we got on the bus to the airport. All in all I really enjoyed this trip. After wanting to go for so long I finally got to go to Gold Coast and it totally lived up to my expectations and them some. As an added bonus I got to go with people who's company I enjoy. It was a trip which I would never forget.

I know this post is long overdue but better late then never right? Finally exams ended last Wednesday. After 2 bloody weeks of waiting. Been having quite a bit of fun since then. I went for Laser Tag last Thursday and it was indeed LEGENDARY. Now I know why Barney loves Laser Tag so much. 12 of us went for laser tag and we split up into several teams and played with some random people as well. Its a definite must go again thing. I never knew there was laser tag in Melbourne. Thanks go to Mr Ow for inviting all of us.

Since then I've been pretty much hanging out at Xiang's place with most of the Ke Wei's, Ah Mai and Wei Jin are down from Adelaide. Been playing a lot of PES as well =p Oh also, I had dinner with Alex, my cousin just now. It was nice seeing him again. I think were meeting up again one more night before he goes back.

I cant wait to go to Gold Coast. Just 5 more days!!!! WOOOOOOT

Yet again, I've been neglecting my blog. Sorry for that. Well nothing much has been going on. Exams etc. Nothing major =p I have one more paper left on the 1st. Finally. I am sick and tired of waiting almost 2 frickin' weeks for my last paper to be over. Meh.

I watched Transformers 2 yesterday and it was AWE- wait for it - SOME. And to those people who didnt like it or even hated it, you can just SUCK IT!!!! you probably have no taste in movies and share your views with some knuckleheaded, overly self absorbed, brainless movie critics. Who only know how to bash great films and their makers such as Michael Bay in favor of films with generally do mediocre or bomb at the box office.

Well that rant aside, I dont really have anything else to say. So.... Ta' till the next time I blog again. Whenever that migh tbe.

As usual, sorry for the lack of updates. I've been super lazy to blog. Well not much has happened since the last post. Couple of people's birthdays, watched a couple of movies, mid sems, assignments. The usual. Oh I also turned 21. Meh, no biggie.

Exam timetable this time is a bit screwed up. I have Consumer Economics on June 12th, Commercial Banking on 15th, AUDITING 17th and Monetary Theory on July 1st =.= The most panzy subject for last. Bleh.

I'm going to watch Star Trek tomorrow. Maybe with Tommy. Hope its good.

The Day I Will Never Forget

2nd of February 2009, is a day that I will never forget. It was the day that I visited Anfield, home ground for the Liverpool Football Club. The train ride to Liverpool from London took about 2 and a half hours. It was quite boring really. I did see some animals on the country side though. Horses, dogs and what I think were sheep.

I arrived at the stadium quite early and had some time to kill before the tour started. So I decided to walk about a little and take some pics.

After walking around for a bit it was time for the tour. So I headed back to the meeting point. The tour guide that I got was a guy who was pretty funny and the gal that was his assistant was quite cute =)

Sorry for the delay in posting up about my London trip. When you see how long it is you will understand that I was a tad bit lazy in doing this. On a side note, this will be a super duper long post. Probably my longest post ever. There are about a 100 odd pics in this one. So warning for people will low cap. This will take up a lot of it. Also, I wont be posting about my Liverpool trip in this one. It deserves a post of its own. Which shall be up in due time.

London had its worse snowfall in like 20 years for the first couple of days I was there. Sadly I didnt take any pics because I thought it would snow some more but it didnt. Oh well.

I decided to do some of the typical tourist stuff because I havent been to London before. So I went to the Palace Of Buckingham. Coincidentally it was on one of the days that they were changing the guard. I tried to get a better look but couldnt because there was shit load of people there.

The first musical I saw while I was in London was The Lion King. It was a really good musical. While the actors & actresses were good but nothing to shout about, the sets, costumes and props were on a whole other level. It was just AHmazing. Of the 4 musicals I saw, this one had the best set, props and costumes by far. To those who have the chance to watch The Lion King, please do. Btw Rafiki stole the show for me.

I also went to Madam Tussad's. Which was quite cool because you get to see some really life like wax figures of celebrities.

The set wasnt much to shout about but the way that they used the props and sets were simple yet innovative. It was definitely a very enjoyable musical. There's something wrong with you if you do not enjoy ABBA music. This is another must catch musical.

Next up was Wicked. Which was by far my favourite musical of all. Kerry Ellis who plays Elphaba is simply AHmazing. Of all the musicals I watched while I was in London, Kerry Ellis is the best actress that I had the pleasure of seeing perform. Wicked certainly puts a twist in the story of The Wizard of Oz. It makes one think a little too.

The pics I took of the theater during the day wasn't so nice. So when I was walking by the theater one night I decided to take more pics of it because it simply looked better at night.

I also managed to sneak a picture of the stage.

Next up is the Tower of London. We decided to walk there so we could see more things on the way. Also, I can now say that I walked across Tower Bridge =)

The River Thames

*London Bridge is falling down, falling down....* I always thought this was London Bridge. I never knew that this was called Tower Bridge and that London Bridge is well...... bridges in London.

The Tower of London was pretty cool. There was a lot of nice things to see. The guy who was bringing us around the place was pretty cool. Made a lot of jokes. Funny fellow. He told us some stories about the place. It has a very long and bloody history. Quite cool really =p

One of the most interesting things in the place is one of the most famous gates in the world.

Traitors' Gate. This is the gate where prisoners of the Tower are brought through. Anne Boleyn herself went through these gates all those centuries ago.

The White Tower, which is in the center of the Tower of London. This is the place where some of the Kings of old used to stay. First of whom was King William the 1st. He was the one who ordered the keep to be built.

The Jewel House, where the Crown Jewels of UK are kept. Pictures werent allowed inside. So, I couldnt take any.

There was some medieval equipment on display inside the White Tower. I think these were the lances that the horseback knights used to use.

There was also quite a bit of time to kill after that. So we went to Ripley's.

The 4th musical that I saw was We Will Rock You. It was the one that I was most looking forward to. I mean who wouldnt look forward to a musical based on Queen songs man?

However, to be completely honest I didnt think the actor who played Galileo and the actress who played Scaramouche were that good. I preferred the actor who played Brit and the actress who played Meat. Incidentally Kerry Ellis originated the role of Meat in 2002.

I went on one of those bus tours around the city. I sat on the top deck. It was open topped. Twas' a bit nippy. Some of the places that we saw were where Magret Thatcher lives, where most of the embassies are, the area where Roger Moore lives, where Sean Connery used to own a house.

I went to the Covent Garden market before heading to Heathrow on my last day. I had nothing better to do and have yet to check out the place.

Sis told me to check out this shop which sells nice cookies.

I cant remember all 3 of the flavours that I tried but I remembered that 1 of them is oatmeal and raisins and the other peanutbutter.

All in all I quite enjoyed the trip. Especially since I got to go to Anfield (post will be up soon..... hopefully). However I did stay in London abit too long because the trip to Ireland & Scotland got cancelled. I wanted to go to places like Oxford, Bath, Cambridge, Stonehedge & etc but thanks to a certain someone I wasnt able to. Oh also, thanks to Junny for letting me bunk in his place for a few days and for saving me from the dodgy ass hostel.

Back in the land down under. Flying in Air Asia was okay. Not that bad actually. Only that the seats were a weeee bit small. A bit uncomfortable for people like myself. Touched down at Tulamarine at bout 12.30. Only got to the girls' place near to 2. Baggage claim took ages to get through. When I arrived at their place we chit chated for a while and I passed them the stuff I got for them. Slept at bout 3+.

Unpacking took a suprisingly fast time but that was only the easy part. I have a lot of spring cleaning to do at home and that would not be fun AT ALL.

Won't be blogging from Malaysia for a while. I'll be staying on hopefully for a couple of years. It has been a good trip back this time. I actually had time to do things this time around. Whereas, last time I only had 3 short weeks. I got to go to Penang to visit Yvonne. Interning at KPMG was a real experience. I also met some wonderful friends over there. If it wasn't for them I don't think I would have been able to bear with work. Also, I got to go to England which was really awesome because of the plays I got to see, the friends I met up with (Thanks much Jun) and of course visiting Anfield which was definitely the highlight of the trip.

Don't worry I'll put up a post about the trip sometime in the near future once things have settled down a bit. I can't wait to get back to Melbourne again because I get to see some of my favourite peoples. You know who you are ; ) I'll be reaching early on Sunday morning, so I'll be bunking at the girls' place before I head back to my own apartment. Class starts on Tuesday. So I have an extra day of getting back into the swing of things.

Anfield was very very nice. It was LEGEN - wait for it - DARY!!!! Pics will be posted up once I get back home. Till then I'll give mini updates when possible. I'm using Yvonne Tee's laptop right now (thank you Yvonne). I watched quite a few musicals since I came to England. Lion King, Mamma Mia, Wicked & We Will Rock You. Of all the musicals I have watched, I find that Wicked is the best one. The lady who plays Elphaba, Kerry Ellis, is simply AHmazing. I so feel like watching it again =p Neways, got to go. First time in Europe too =p I'm in the LSE library now. I snuck in thanks to my sis. I had to pass her some stuff and I alsow wanted to use the toilet and computer. I guess I'm pretty lucky, cause it snowed in London today. It was quite nice really. Going to Anfield tomorrow!!!! That should be very very nice. I didnt take any pics of the snow but I'll defintiely take pics of Anfield =) Oh also I saw the Lion King musical. That was nice as well. Those who have the chance to go see it should.

Well work is over with, so I am finally a free man again. No more having to wake up insanely early on a holiday and dragging my ass to work!!!! I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Well CNY is tomorrow and I cant wait to get back to Pontian later. Not very sure what time I'll be leaving though. Whatever it is I think shud be in time for the reunion dinner. I havent seen everyone in over 2 years. So it shud be a pretty good time seeing everyone again.

Then on the 6th day, which is next Saturday I'll be going to England!!! Then on the following Monday............... ANFIELD!!!!!!!! Yeah man. I so cant wait to go to England.

Not sure when I'll be able to blog again. I'll see if I have some time before I leave for England.

First Post Of '09

Warning: Long post ahead

I know its a little bit late for the first post of the new year but wat the heck. Better late then never right? Another year another new beginning bla bla bla etc etc. Lets just skip that part. It's all getting a little bit to cliche already.

Since I took leave on the 2nd I had a 4 day weekend. I originally intended to go to Penang but then I decided not to. The reason is because the England people were still here and I decided to spend as much time with them as I can before they go back (which was within a week). It's sad that Tam went back to England so early this time. At least I get to go to England in February and see all the England people again.

Speaking of which, I can't wait to go to England. My main aim would of course be to visit Anfield, which I am. I'm also going for the stadium & musuem tour. Which should be a lot of fun. My 2nd aim would be to watch the 'We Will Rock You' play. Also, I might be going to Ireland & Scotland. Nessie!!!!! Highlands!!!! Castles!!!!! I hope my camera has enough space for all the pics =p

My first job allocation for the new year turned out to be the best one yet. It was to one of the BMW offices. The office was located in the HP building in Damansara Heights. Which is really close to Tam's place. It's ironic really cause I get to work near his house only after he left for England. The senior at the job was this really cool guy who you could a lot of crap with. Nothing much was done in the first week of the job because the client's were so friggin slow in preparing the schedules and what not. I even had time to take naps & read hundreds of pages of my story book.

The 2nd week was not that different except with a little bit of work here and there. It was still mostly a very relaxing engagment. Well for me anyways. I took the Friday of that week, which was the 17th, off because I wanted to go to Penang for fun.

I took a bus to Penang. It left the station at bout 11 and reached Penang Island at about 3+. Which is quite fast considering it is a bus. The fact that I was taking cough syrup did help a little =p. Yvonne picked me up from the bus station. It was good seeing her again after 2+ months of not seeing her. I have to admit it felt weird when she was driving. I guess cause I'm not used to my Melbourne friends driving so I just couldnt picture it properly.

Anyways, after she picked me up we went back to her place to drop off my stuff and some stuff that she bought while waiting for me. After that, we went for some cendol and chinese style rojak. The cendol was quite nice and it didnt come with all the extra stuff which I dont really like. Once we were done eating we went to a mall that was nearby her house to just kill some time. We decided to catch a movie after dinner so we bought some tix for Outlander. My advice, dont watch that film. Its a waste of your time and money. After we got the tix we walked around some more and then head back to her place to rest a bit.

We chilled till 8 and then went to a coffee shop nearby her place for dinner. We had some fried squid thingy, ikan panggang, ouh chien and of course some char kuey teow as well. Now, I'm not someone who likes squid or calamary very much but the squid thingy that she ordered I did like. The ikan panggang was quite good. One of the better ones I have tasted. Yvonne also thought me a new way to eat that type of ikan panggang. Which made things so much easier cause you dont get the bones as much. The ouh chien was quite good as well. The best part about the ouh chien is that the ouh is actually pretty big. Its bigger then the size of a 50 cent coin. As opposed to some places in KL where the ouh is so pathetic that you actually have trouble finding it. And the best dish of the night was of course the char kuey teow. Which is the best char kuey teow I ever tasted.

Once dinner was over with, we left for the movies. Which on hindsight wasnt a very good choice because the movie sucked. Thank god the movie wasnt very long. That was one experience I did not want to go through again. We went back to her place to her place after that and cam-whored abit before we slept.

The following morning we went to another coffee shop for breakfast. I had the Penang version of Hokkien Mee & Curry Mee. Their Hokkien Mee is more like the Prawn Mee which you normally find in the Klang Valley and their Curry Mee is quite different to any of the Curry Mee you would have tried in the Klang Valley. I'm not sure how to discribe it properly but its something different and quite nice too. I forgotten to take pics of the 2 Mees. So my bad about that.

When breakfast was over with, Yvonne's mom drove us to the famous Penang temple 'Kek Lok Si'. The temple is quite a nice place to go to. Though be prepared to sweat because it can get pretty hot up there. The main attraction for tourists in the temple is the giant bronze statue of Kuan Yim. Putting the fact that it was still partially under construction when I went there, it is still an impressive sight none the less.

After spending some time walking around the temple, Yvonne's mom picked us up and then we left for another coffee shop to have lunch. Yes I know, I ate a lot in Penang. So sue me. I was there for a short time only, so I had to cram as much food as possible into that time =p. We had the Penang version of Asam Laksa, Lemak Laksa (I think its called lemak laksa) and also a plate of char kuey teow. This time I actually did take pictures of the dishes. Except for the char kuey teow though.

It's not bad but I honestly think O&S Asam Laksa is better. Sorry Yvonne.

We long kai'ed a bit after eating, visiting various famous places in Penang like Gurney Drive. Also, we went to some other smaller temples which names I simply cannot remember. I think I might have been to one of those temples when I was really small. I seem to have very vague recollections of that place. One of the things inside that temple is a globe of the world being guarded on 2 sides by these wing creatures. I think they were called Garuda's or something, I'm not very sure. I just get the feeling that I was there before. I must look through my old pictures again to find out.

Once we were done with the temple visiting, we were at a loss as to what to do because there was still alot of time to kill. Then this lady who was handing out flyers about a supposedly "famous" toy museum. We though why not? We had time to kill. So we set out for the museum. Making a small stop for some goreng pisang and other deep fried stuff. We werent expecting much at the museum but to our pleasent suprise, it was actually quite good. They had everything from movie toys, to anime toys to barbie dolls. Even though people who go to Penang wont normally go there, I suggest you should stop by the next time you do. They have some pretty cool stuff there. I also took some pics but those will only be posted up at a later date due to reasons which will be revealed in time.

After that pleasent suprise, we headed to a mall to kill some time with some shopping before dinner. Yvonne's mom went to shop around abit while be and Yvonne went to a fish spa to chill. After what I think was about an hour had passed, we got out of the place and walked about a little bit. At about 7+ or 8+ we left for dinner.

I cant remember the name of the place we went to but I know the lighting was quite dim and according to Yvonne's mom, the place has been around for at least 40 years. The food was pretty good. We had ouh chien, some hor fun thing, crabs, prawns, satay and lalas. The ouh chien at that place wasnt very good. It was way too wet and the taste wasnt really there as well. I didnt eat the hor fun because there was waaaaaaaaaaaay too much food and I was already having enough trouble finish the rest. The crab & prawns very nice. They were done in the simple method. nothing to fancy but they still tasted great. We ordered 16 sticks of satay, 8 beef & 8 chicken. The lalas were just awesome. I'm not so sure wat was the style called but I know that I liked it and had more than half of it XD

The suprising thing is that I actually ate the body as well. I normally just go for the claws

It has been a while since I ate that much at dinner. Also, I dont think I ever ate that much in one day before. By the time dinner was over I felt really full. Full to the point where I couldnt even drink water because I was too full. Later on after chit chating for a bit we headed to one street which sells a crap load of fake stuff. I cant remember the name of the place but I do remember you have to go through a very windy road to get there. After walking around for a bit we decided to head back because we were tired and it was a long day.

I had the Penang version of Loh Mee for my last meal in Penang. Their Loh Mee is the Klang Valley's Lam Mee. Which I dont normally like but that one tasted not too bad. Once, breakfast was done with we still had some time to kill before my bus left. So we went to a nearby Starbucks to chill. Then it was time.

I had a really good time in Penang. A trip that I'll likely remember for a long time. Thank you so much for taking time out and showing me around. Thank you Yvonne and of course thank you Yvonne's mom!!! Thank you aunty!!!

DARY!!!! LEGENDARY!!!! First of all check out this video clip that Wei Jin made for some Crocs competition. Colin, Xiang, Jeff & Ah Mai starred in the video clip. My xbox is back from the shop. I've been playing it alot when I am not out. Is nice. Feels good to game properly again after so long. Also, I got a new monitor to go along with my xbox. The picture quality is just superb.

For Christmas eve, I went to the curve with Ian, Jun Hann, Elaine & The Black One. We saw the rest of the Cina gang there as well. It was the usual Curve kinda countdown thing. Lots of people and lots of stupid sprays which smell dam bad. By the end of the night all of us got sprayed like nobody's business. Gov kena more than anyone else though. I wonder why? =p We didnt stay till too long. We went to the 24 hours McD in Pusat Bandaraya to chill. Tze & Pat (or is it Pek?) sorry if I got it wrong, joined us later on. We stayed and chit chat till 2.30+ .

Christmas itself was a rather simple affair. Stayed at home and chilled most of the day while playing xbox. Sadly, I didnt apply for leave on boxing day so I had to go to work. So, when a senior approached me at the beginning of the day to ask me whether I was free or not I said I was (though I usually will say not sure cause it depends on my senior). I ended up at client's place in Cheras until 9.30+. Got home at only about 10.20 ish. Bah why didnt I say I was busy.

The weekend passed in its usual fashion. Hanging out with the guys + Elaine. We went to the Bangsar malam on Sunday. It was nice going to a pasar malam again after so long. I've missed all the sort of food you get there that you cant get in Melbourne. All the apoms, lekors, muachi and the like.

Today I was suppose to follow a senior for a stocktake at god knows where but when I came back to the office after client's place yesterday, he said dont need to go because we're staying in the office today. So I showed up in the office today in the usual office attire. I was waiting the entire morning for the senior to look for me but I think he totally forgotten that I was assigned to him. So oh well, more free time =).

Chee Kin & I were the only VTs in the office today, the rest were either at client's or stocktake. Jeremy was with us until lunch time only cause a senior asked him to follow her to stocktake after lunch. Chee Kin's senior told him that he can go home after lunch cause there was nothing for him to do and also that she wanted to chow early. Since I had nothing to do as well I went home after lunch.

Countdown today would be another quite affair. Since everyone is with their family I decided to chill at home with my own. While playing some xbox of course. Yes, I am well aware that I play the xbox alot. I love gaming so sue me.

2008 was a wonderful yet not wonderful year for me. It had its ups and it had its downs. All in all it was a year of change for me. Lots of things changed from 2007. Some of them were minor and some of them were pretty big.

This brings a close to the year of 2008. The next time I post it will be a new year and a new beginning. Fare thee well 2008.

'Tis The Season To Be Jolly

I know it's not the most creative title of all time but what the heck rite? Christmas is coming and that's always a good thing. Holidays!!! And the general merry'ment. Once again, sorry for taking a month to post. The usual procrastinating and all.

Quite a bit of stuff happened the past month. The first two weeks were boring as hell though because not many people were back yet and the only thing I could do was play Fabled 2 & Gears Of War 2. Speaking of which, my xbox is taking dam long to mod. The guy said it would take a week only. Its been 2. Fak, if it was modded at least I wont feel that bored.

Work began on the 1st. Which is okay and not so okay. Some days can end real late but I guess that's what it means to be an auditor. Luckily the seniors I got on my first job were nice. So thank god for then. Since then it hasnt been too bad I guess.

I get along quite well with the other vt's except for one of them. Who's name I shall not mention. That person just annoys me with everything they do. The way they talk, their attittude and basically everything. On a more positive note, I saw some pretty cute and hot interns during the induction but sadly none of them are in my department. If any of the gals in my department happen to be reading this, I'm sorry but its just true. The quality of female vt's i my department is just terrible.

On the other hand, the same cant be said of the senior's in my department. Which is definitely a good thing. Some of them I would have to say are quite good looking. Defintiely of a better standard when compared to the female vt's. Even without the comparison I would say the quality is of a pretty high standard. More eye candy, hehe ^.^

Also, the england people are back. Always good to see them. Especially Jun & 'Tam. For those who dont know who 'Tam is....... please take a gun and shoot yourself.

On a completely random note, I plan to go up to Penang after Christmas or sometime in early January after the England people go back.

Good To Be Back

It truly is. Though I enjoy being in the land down under, there really is no place like home. The flight was not too bad. They showed some pretty good movies on the flight. There was a little trouble with the hand carry weight but it was all good in the end. Luckily I didn't have to wait another year and a half before I could come back. Well, I'll post again if something interesting happens or when I feel like it.

Sorry I din blog about Jeff's surprise birthday dinner yesterday. I was too lazy =p. The dinner was good. You should try Blue Fire if you are a meat lover. I don't normally eat calamari but I had some on Wednesday. Also, I WANT SOME CARROTS!! (inside joke).

Vin came over yesterday from Clayton to see my "skills" (baking and not anything dirty!). I hope she wasn't disappointed. I made blueberry cake which was incidentally the first cake I ever made.

After trying some of the cake we jalan-jalan'ed a bit. We went to KoKo Black. I bought some truffles there and for those who have not tried KoKo Black's truffles before you should. They're awesome. Then we headed to the best gelati store ever, Il Dolce Freddo. After that we went back to my apartment and chilled for a bit. Vin had to leave not long after cause she wanted to avoid the office hour jam on the way back. The rest of the day was spent tyding up (or at least trying to anyways) my stuff before I leave. That took a suprisingly long time.

Today, I had yum cha with David, Jeff, Vocan & Ying. We were done with lunch at about 1.30+ After that we walked around for a short bit but I decided to leave early as I had not packed yet. I got home at about 2+ and instead of getting straight to packing I procastinated and then played a bit of Fable 2.

Then I started packing in earnest and my god it took me much longer than I expected. The first few times I packed all my luggages were very overweight. In the end I had to leave behind quite a few things I thought of brining back. Even with that, my check in lugggae, handcarry and crumpler bag are still overweight. I hope whoever weighs my bags tomorrow is lenient. If not die, have to discard stuff.

Even after dinner I was still not done. I did a bit more of packing before heading to San Churro to meet David, Vocan & Ying. We were there for bout an hour or so and then we headed back to my apartment because I wanted to finish off my packing. After all that , I headed to the girl's place for the night cause their place is right next to Southern Cross. So, here I am now blogging. I left the Three Musketeers book back in the apartment. I intend to wake up early and get it tomorrow morning. I hope thats the only thing I forgot to take.

Yeah man, exams are over!! Finally can rest properly. I meant to put up a post on Monday itself but I forgot =p I was "preoccupied" with other things. So I posted today instead. Tax Law wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Passing the subject shouldn't be an issue but getting any higher than a P is highly unlikely.

I can't believe 2nd year is already over. It seemed like the year just breezed by. Already I am 2/3 through my course. I hope I don't have to tough a time on the last 1/3.

Anyways, enough about this depressing Uni stuff. Today I was suppose to go to the Zoo today but unfortunately Vocan had class so we decided to go to the Zoo on Wednesday instead. A couple of days ago Xiang asked me if I wanted to follow him and some friends to DFO Essendon on Tuesday. I had to decline the offer cause I thought I was going to the Zoo with the girls. Since, going to the zoo got pushed on to Wednesday, I decided to following Xiang to DFO.

It was an okay trip. I din get that much stuff for myself, a couple of towels for home, bath room mats, 2 polo t's. One T was for me and the other was for my dad. I also got a couple of other random stuff.

I'm so looking forward to going to the Zoo tomorrow. It has been god knows how many years since I last went to any zoo at all. Oh also, there's an "event" going on tomorrow night. I wont go into the details now. I'll blog about it after it happens. So I'll probably post up on Wednesday night itself or the following morning. The following morning is more likely.

1-0 post aside, its been almost 2 months since I last posted anything. There were many reasons for this. First of all I had to cancel my stupid internet line cause it had a lot of problems then I had to apply for a new one. It took quite sometime before the new internet line could work. Then just a few days before the internet line was about to be installed my laptop died. The hard drive some how got corrupted and all my files lost........ all the pics from over the years................ ='( After I got a new hard drive for my laptop, it took some time to setup and install everything again. Most of the programs I had on my old laptop has yet to be downloaded and installed on the new one.

Then before I knew it was already almost exam period. That meant the serious studying had to begin. So I had little time to do anything else. At least I was suppose to be studying anyways =p

I had Company Reporting on Monday, which wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Macro was yesterday which was disappointing cause I made some stupid careless mistakes. Today I had Performance, which was another disappointing paper. Again due to careless mistakes I ought not to make and also due to time constraints. And after 10 long days is the last paper.... the mother of all papers.........(up till now anyways) Taxation Law. Which is a real bitch of a subject. To those who don't have to take that subject, I urge you not to. No sane person would take that subject as an elective.

Nothing much is probably going to happen until after my last paper so I'll probably blog again when I get home from doing my last paper. Ta'

Had a potluck at the girl's place today. The event was for the mooncake festival but ironically enough there wasnt any mooncake >.<

There were other dishes as well dont know why no pics were taken of them. Meh. After dinner we had dessert. Strawberry cheesecake thanks to yours truly. I tried to "decorate" the cake this time and it didnt turn out to well >.< there were small cracks here and there. Nvm I shall try and make sure there arent any cracks the next time. The thing is the past few times I made cheesecakes they didnt have cracks in them. I guess maybe cause this time I actually put stuff on top.

The taste wasnt too bad but I think the blueberry one is better

Oh btw, 2-1!!!!! anyone who knows me knows what I am talking about ^.^

4 Days Of Suffering

The examination timetable was released today and it turned out to be not to bad for me. My 1st paper which is Company Reporting is on the 27th of October. Which is good cause its a late start which gives me more time to study. However, my next 2 papers which are Macro and Performance, are on the 29th & 30th. At least its the 2 least hardest papers which are the ones that are back to back. Some many days later on the 10th of November is the hardest one of 'em all. Thank the fates that Tax Law is the last paper and that there is a 10 day gap between Performance and Tax Law. Which would give me a lot of time to make sure I don't fail >.<

Since I'm flying back on the 15th it leaves me a few days of doing whatever I want in Melb. I was thinking of going to the zoo since I had never been to the Melbourne Zoo before. Also, I was planning to go to Brighton Beach one more time before I go back home. Anyone want to teman me?

Of Blueberry Cheesecakes & Randomness

Sorry its been a month+ since I last posted. Been pretty swamped with uni stuff this sem. Though to be fair I only have 2 days of classes this sem!!! Woooot!!!! However, Wednesdays are hell though. 8 hours of class. 7 of 'em in a row from 9am-4pm and then 5-6 but oh well.... well worth for only TWO days of class. Taxation Law & Company Reporting are the killers this sem. They make AIS seem almost pleasent. Almost only.

Stuff in general has been pretty weird this sem. Havent been hanging out as much with people anymore. Uni friends or otherwise. I have hardly been to the girl's place this sem. I think I've only been there like 2 or 3 times only. Dont know la. Hardly see much of the home crowd as well but oh well. Life still goes on.

Also, I've hardly been baking much this sem. Twice only. 1st time was an oreo cheesecake for Yvonne (her bday) and the other time on Thurs when I made a blueberry cheesecake. Though it seemed to be a bit more blueberry than cheese. Ah well, I do have a tendency to overdo it a little bit with the "liu".

Okay, so its not the most visually appetising looking cake but it still tasted pretty decent!

Nothing else to say really. Will blog again when the mooooooooood hits me. Whenever that might be..............
